Call for Applicants: iTi Junior Fellows Program Summer 2022

Applications are now open for the Image Text Ithaca Junior Fellows Program (June 28-July 1) and for a one-week Image Text Ithaca Course (July 4-July 8).

Join the iTi Visiting Artists and graduate students for one or both of the following opportunities:

  • A 3 ½ day exploratory workshop (June 28-July 1) at the intersection of lens-based media and literature on a farm in the Finger Lakes region, near Ithaca, New York. This intensive collaborative retreat offers an opportunity for a non-hierarchical engagement between all participants with the aim of generating new ideas and interventions into existing practices. Across four days of experimentation, play, work, meals and discussion, spontaneous teams, collectives and individual projects emerge, culminating in an afternoon of exhibition and performance on the last day. Visiting Artists include Laura Letinsky, David Hartt, Claudia Rankine, Emily Skillings, Elana Schlenker, and Bruno Ceschel, along with program directors Nicholas Muellner and Catherine Taylor.
  • Three one-week courses (July 4-July 8). These courses will be taught respectively by photographer Laura Letinsky, writer Lucy Ives, and designer Elana Schlenker. Please indicate courses in order of preference. You may include all three classes in your preference list in case your top choices are already full.

Applicants should submit a short bio/CV, a one paragraph statement of interest, and a 10-page portfolio of either photography, writing, or both (applicants should demonstrate a sustained practice in one or both media).

Workshop-only Junior Fellow fee: $1,000 including all meals.
Single course fee: $1,000.
Workshop plus course session fee: $2,000 including all meals from June 28 to July 1.

Scholarships are available on a competitive basis; please indicate in your letter of intent if you would like to be considered. The iTi Program does not provide housing, but Ithaca College has dorm rooms available for summer rental through their website here.

Please send your portfolio, application materials and any questions to by Friday, March 18.
