TAKE THE SHIP APART is a publication produced during the summer of 2020 by Andre Bradley, Hugo Gallo, Shantal Jeewon Kim, Laura Pierson, Amy Schuessler, and Kelsey Sucena, whose work in photography and writing lives in relation to each other, as threads of connectivity.
Consisting of broadsheets by each of the contributors, as a moving organism that takes part in the notion of urgency, the publication is meant to be taken apart, and can be activated by protocols, in one’s home, or as an iterative exhibition.
Taking in part the paradox of the Ship of Theseus, TAKE THE SHIP APART is also a way to think through what a collective thesis could be: an aggregate that is evolving, moving in the world, and never static nor finished.
Made by the ITI MFA Class of 2020, in collaboration with Paul Soulellis, who designed this publication, and Jo-ey Tang, to co-conceive a de-centered mode of engagement for the thesis exhibition format.
Join us at Printed Matter's Virtual Art Book Fair on February 28, 2021 at 5 PM EST for a soft launch, reading, and conversation with the iTi Class of 2020 about the work, joined by Jo-ey Tang and Paul Souellis. The iTi Press table will go live on February 24, 2021.
